The Drydens - Knowing and making known Jesus Christ as Lord in Madeira, Portugal
Justin and Celena Dryden are missionary appointees with Go Ye Fellowship called to serve the Lord on the island of Madeira, Portugal. Madeira is an hours plane ride south of Portugal, and an hours plane ride west of Casablanca, Morocco. By God’s grace, we make it our ambition to proclaim Christ on an island that has approximately 300,000 residents, and only two small evangelical churches.
We grew up in very different homes. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area with no Christian upbringing, while Celena grew up in Billings, MT with a Roman Catholic background. I graduated from the Yellowstone Baptist College (2003) in Billings, MT and The Master’s Seminary (2007) in Sun Valley, CA. Celena graduated from Montana State University Billings with a double major in Spanish and Education (2000). We were married in July of 2000. Since our marriage we have desired to serve the Lord together.
The Lord has called us by his grace to serve the people of Madeira, Portugal by living and proclaiming the gospel of God’s unmerited grace. We desire to partner closely with the Funchal Baptist Church. Their ambition (and ours) is to prayerfully begin the process of planting churches on the west, northwest, and northeastern sides of the island. Our passion is to see communities of believers who display the characteristics Paul was “satisfied” with in the church in Rome. Churches that “are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another.”
